[mehr]** IMPORTANT** Please read ALL of the information on this page *BEFORE* booking** Raise a Smile Hostel - A little bit of Africa in the heart of East Berlin We are a newly opened small hostel in an apartment block in Friedrichshain, the alternative area full of bars restaurants and history in the heart of East Berlin. The Raise a Smile hostel is run as part of the Zambian children's charity - Raise a Smile, so all the profit from your stay at the hostel will be donated to the charity. It has been designed with a Zambian / African theme to raise awareness of the country, its inhabitants and its beautiful landscapes and animals. The hostel is aimed at solo travellers and groups of up to 3. We try our best to give backpackers and travellers the chance to meet other guests in a fun, friendly, social atmosphere and to experience the real Berlin, not just to see the famous historical sights. We have a tram stop only 1 minute walk from our door and an U-Bahn station less than 5 mins walk away. The tram runs 24 hours a day and it takes only 5 mins to get to the East Side Gallery, the longest remaining section of the Berlin Wall and the world’s largest open air art gallery. It also takes you to numerous bars, clubs and restaurants and some of the well known and less well known sites of Berlin. There are a huge number of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance as well as a bar in the same building, bakeries, post office, bank, supermarkets, and an off license that is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year! Self service breakfast is available for a suggested donation of €3, but you pay for how much you think you ate so if you have a small appetite you can pay less. The hostel is quite small with only 18 beds and is therefore homely and very easy to meet people and make friends. We also have a communal kitchen and living room for all guests to share and meet each other. You can have lots of fun here and we DO allow alcohol in the hostel (in comparison to many other hostels in Berlin). However, it is NOT a party hostel so please don't book with us if you are only here to get drunk every night! Check out is 12:00 (mid day) or later if nobody has booked your bed for the next day. Check in 13:00 or earlier if nobody has booked your bed the day before (you can always come earlier and leave your bags as we have free luggage storage). If there is no online availability for the nights you wish to stay, please send us an email as we may still have space available! Also please contact us before booking if you have any special requests e.g. you would like to stay longer than 7 nights! Contact us ***Please please print out the directions and watch the video on our website. Otherwise you might not find the hostel ****************IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE BOOKING!**************** We do NOT accept groups bigger than 3 or stag or hen parties! We require a minimum of 2 nights stay. If you would like to make a booking where one night would be in one room and another night in a different room please contact us BEFORE booking! We reserve the right to cancel any booking of people who do not stick to these conditions. ****************You must indicate what time you will be arriving on the booking page. Please inform us if you are going to miss the time you indicated when you booked your bed so we can arrange for a new time. After check in you will have 24 hours access. **************** Payment must be made on arrival (or at least part payment). A key deposit of €20 is required, which you will get back when you return the keys when you leave. You have to walk through a dorm to get to the elephant room (basic double room). The giraffe room (standard double room) has a door from the main corridor so you do not have to walk through another room. CANCELLATION POLICY If you do not contact us before 12:00 (mid day), 2 days before your arrival date to give notice of a cancellation, then you will be charged the first night of your booking. If you do not contact us at all to let us know you want to cancel, but simply do not turn up at the hostel, then you will be charged for all of the nights of your booking.
