Its walls are up to 10 metres high in places and its only door (for defensive reasons) allows entry to the Medina's living quarters. It is possible to walk around the walkway on top of the ramparts (le chemin de ronde), which can be entered by passing under an arch. From the top, one can see the streets and alleys of the Medina. A paying visit is available daily between June and August from 9am to 9pm and and from 9am to 5.30pm the rest of the year, everyday except Mondays. In the summer months, a cafe is open along the walkway.
