[mehr]In 2002 the Belgian city of Bruges was the European Capital of Culture. To mark the honour, the city which is best known for its old traditional buildings built a brand new concerthall - the Concertgebouw or literally 'concert building' - in a very modern style. The architects were Paul Robbrecht and Hilde Daem and their vision was to create a multifunctional entertainment venue. The building includes a large auditorium with 1300 seats as well as a hall for chamber music that seats 300. The Concertgebouw hosts events including classical concerts and operas, jazz, musicals and modern music. From the roof visitors can get views across the entire city.
Tickets can be booked on-line or in person and the concert hall is open Monday to Saturday except on bank holidays.
