[mehr]Surrounded by a magic landscape of vineyards and olive-groves, just in the heart of Tuscany, the farmhouse “Tenuta di Sticciano” is the ideal place for a unique holiday combining both your need for relaxation and your desire of becoming acquainted with the artistic, historical, natural and oenogastronomical wonders of this region.
Tenuta di Sticciano is located in the heart of Tuscany, overlooking the unforgettable landscape of Valdelsa crossed by vineyards, olive-groves and regular rows of cypresses. The farm is about 40 Km from Florence, 40 Km from Siena, 30 Km from San Gimignano and about 60 minutes drive from the coast.
The farm boasts an excellent location with a splendid view over the famous Tuscan hills and houses ten units of various sizes, fully equipped. They are divided into three rural buildings.
All the units have vaulted ceilings, timber ceilings with exposed beams, “cotto” floors and fireplaces in the kitchen-living room area; they are also furnished with rural art decor, according to the country style of the tuscan tradition and perfectly respectful of the atmosphere of the place. Guests can use the barbecues located in the common areas and may also take the advantage of a laundry room with washing machine, ironing board and iron.
Sticciano boasts a large swimming pool and a small pool for children located on a terrace with an exciting view over the splendid surrounding landscape. Next to the pool there is a hall with an oven, a barbecue and a snack bar that will be open from June to September for light lunches and snacks on the edge of the pool.
In the manor house guests can find a relaxation room with newspapers and magazines, parlour games, television and table tennis.
From June to September, from Monday to Saturday, a service of “bread delivery” is available every morning.
Apartments
All units are located on the ground floor and on the first floor, every one has a fireplace and an outer space where it is possible to arrange dinner. Flats are of various sizes from 2 to 6 people, we also have connecting flats for 9-10 people, with cooking space, fridge, microwave oven, central heating. Tv is not available in the apartment. The management provides every week bed and table linen, kitchen towels and bath towels.
THE FARM
Tenuta di Sticciano boasts a very ancient tradition of wine making. There are documents dating back to 1815 mentioning wine production but perhaps even before that date Sticciano produced wine with grapes of Sangiovese, which can be witnessed by the presence of the historical cellar next to the manor house (17th century).
Nowadays Sticciano produces Chianti and other wines in the same cellar of three centuries ago. We grow winegrapes with great passion and take care of them until their optimal ripening. We gather grapes and make wine using the most modern technologies, but still trying to respect the ancient tradition in order to obtain every year the highest quality.
The farmhouse of Sticciano covers an area of 170 hectars, 90 hectars of woods with secular plants, 17 hectars of vineyards, 54 hectars of olive-groves with more than 8000 olive trees.
We produce more than 700 quintals of Chianti D.O.C.G., and two sorts of white wine, a Chardonnay I.G.T and a selection of Pinot Grigio, the “Controluce” I.G.T. the sole Pinot Grigio in Tuscany.
The passion for the land and its fruits leads us to a constant result: the quality.
The tuscan extravirgin oil I.G.P. is produced according to the deepest tuscan cultures: oil-press, moraiolo, leccino and with such pollinators as pendolino and maurino. Our care for plants and the early harvest of olives to protect their organolectic properties manage to make our oil a true product of Chianti’s hills, giving it a particular smell of ripe olive and a flavour which is strong and sweet at the same time.
