The event is organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services department of Wyre Borough Council who arrange a programme of assorted guided walks from short easy walks to more advanced longer walks that take advantage of the hilly countryside around Garstang. Many of the walks begin and end at local pubs and dogs are welcomed on some of the walks and there are walks designed for visitors of all ages and abilities.
During the Festival, special events take place in the local pubs, library etc. The programme for the weekend is usually released a couple of months in advance. Most walks carry a small fee.
