[mehr]Jicaro Island is one of the Isletas (small islands), just a few minutes boat ride from the colonial town of Granada, Nicaragua. This private island getaway has spectacular views of the Mombacho Volcano and other Isletas in Lake Granada.
Private Casitas
The island boasts 9 private two storey casitas of 60 square meters each with plenty of space to relax, enjoy the lake views and get away from it all. All cabins have been built with Rainforest Alliance FSC certified cedar hardwood and feature a second storey bedroom with a king size bed as well as a downstairs living area with access to a private balcony featuring lounge furniture and a hammock. The downstairs sitting area can be converted into a sleeping area for an additional person.
All nine casitas on the island have lake views and are within a short walk from the pool and restaurant area. Early morning coffee and late afternoon "sundowner"̈ delivery service is available upon request. We can certainly understand that you might be tempted never to want to leave your hammock on your private deck overlooking the lake.
Culinary Experience
Being located on an island, we realize that the culinary experience is probably one of the most important parts of the lodging experience at Jicaro. The small intimate outdoor restaurant with an open kitchen offers fresh, local, organic, healthy dishes with a focus on fish, chicken, vegetables and fruits. Nicaraguan specialties are upgraded by our chefs to meet the expectations of well travelled gourmet guests. Breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as non alcoholic drinks are included in the room rate and a full service bar is available for alcoholic beverages. We believe that when you have the best and tastiest ingredients, you can cook very simply and the food will be extraordinary because it tastes like what it is.

A variety of activities are available on the island such as yoga, wellness treatments, kayaking and swimming. At the same time, we offer day and half day tours to explore the nearby attractions such as the Mombacho Volcano Cloud Forest, Canopy Tours, Colonial Granada City Tour and many more. Jicaro is a secluded island getaway, ideal for an out of the ordinary romantic vacation. Begin a day with yoga, lead into time on your private hammock, move towards sunset kayaking, and conclude with a candlelight dinner on a floating deck on the lake. Explore the magic of this very special place.
Yoga and Wellness
The serenity and tranquility of being on the island is unparalleled in Nicaragua and the Yoga platform is set up with incredible lake and volcano views. The island's open spaces have been designed to maximize drama and intimacy. None more so than the water front Yoga deck. The radial structure cantilevers over the water offering a perfect setting for your yoga retreat. Tucked in behind the deck is a Cenote reflection pool, a series of hand tooled concentric stone walls circling down to a water mirror whose level constantly changes with the rise and fall of Lake Nicaragua. Combine this with the fire pit each evening and backing on to the palm thatched Wellness centre and you have all the basic elements needed to get back in touch with the essential. Spa services are available at the lodge. The focus is on massage therapy using local organic products.
Sustainability
Jicaro is designed as an ecolodge with low negative impact on the environment and high positive impact on the local community. We work with the local community on improvements in education, health and nature conservation.
