[mehr]The Anadolu Fortress is located at the only entry point to the Black Sea on the Asian side of the Bosphorus.The Fortress was constructed under order of Sultan Bayezid from 1390-91 and was part of his preparations to besiege the city. Together with the Rumeli Fortress on the European side, which was built in the 1450's, it was used to control the traffic in the Bosphorus. Today it is popular as a viewpoint and its picturesque location.
