[mehr]The Household Cavalry Museum is located in Whitehall in the heart of central London and housed within Horse Guards. The building dates back to 1750 and is the headquarters of the Household Division of the Cavalry which includes the Lifeguards and The Blues and Royals.
It is unlike any other military museum as it is a living museum where you can view behind the scenes of the officers at work. In the stable block all the horses are working at some point in the day and you can witness them being fed, watered and groomed.
Also in the museum is a large collection of uniforms, horse furniture, silverware by Fabergé as well as royal standards and two silver kettledrums dating back too 1831.
It is open every day 10am till 6pm but closed: 25 and 26 December and Good Friday
Admission costs £6 ( 6.70 euros) concessions £4 (4.47 euros).
