Just 4 km west of Pienza, Cretaiole is perched on a beautiful hilltop where you can enjoy amazing views of the valley of the Orcia River (the ‘Val d’Orcia’), Mount Amiata, and the “utopian Renaissance city” of Pienza.

Experience Tuscany at its best—with our personal assistance, to discover its evocative gardens and woods, its stunning views from little known back roads, its hidden trattorias and cozy restaurants, and its suggestive small villages rarely explored by tourists. We will help you find, taste, and immerse yourself in the Tuscany we treasure and know so well.
Our location is perfect for visiting the famous wine towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano (25 min.), along with historical destinations like the thermal hot springs of Bagno Vignoni (10 min.), Siena and Cortona (45 min.), Arezzo (60 min.), Florence, Orvieto, and Perugia (75 min.), and Assisi and San Gimignano (90 min.).
Your weekly stay* with us ensures, at no extra cost, an invitation to participate in a range of unique experiences such as a pasta-making class followed by a traditional Tuscan dinner, an olive oil tasting with a professional oil taster for the province of Siena, and a private tour of the Romitorio of Pienza, an ancient hermitage of Etruscan origin located on our family’s property. We invite you to visit our family’s working farm, where we live just on the outskirts of Pienza, and we will show you our animals and crops, and then ply you with delicious tastings of our products (pecorino cheese, prosciutto, and Sangiovese wine). Also included in your stay is an educational tour of the City of Siena led by a professional guide.
Cretaiole consists of six spacious, comfortable apartments with independent entrances. Each one is unique and all are furnished in traditional, Tuscan style, with terracotta floors and beamed ceilings, fireplaces, fully-equipped kitchens, and private baths.
On Cretaiole’s beautifully-landscaped property you may relax in peace, soak up the sun, and listen to cheery birdsong. You may choose a private corner to read a book, or enjoy the inspiring ambiance while tasting our Orcia DOC Sangiovese wine. You may pick to your taste-bud’s delight fresh ingredients from Luciano Moricciani’s organic vegetable garden—a special gift to our guests.
